When I decided I wanted to get back into photography I knew that what I wanted to capture this time around would be different than what I had shot in the past. Don't get me wrong, I loved shooting children and families and portraits and weddings, but when I look back over the last few years at the photos I've taken, the ones I really connect to, they all have one thing in common; every single one of those photos capture little moments.

One of my favorite quotes about motherhood (family-hood really) comes from a blogger named Robyn Passante. She wrote, “The beauty of motherhood is not in the freshly pressed shirts and smiling photos we show the world. The beauty of motherhood is in the folds and creases of our lives, the grimaces and tantrums, the moments when we have to grit our teeth to get through, when we pound on windows and yell and scream and demand better of each other and ourselves.” I mean, if thats not the truth I don't know what is!! Seriously, she nailed it!

So, why document your everyday {boring} life??

Because often times the moments you really want to remember are the things you most easily forget.

Life is about the good times.

It's about snow days spent in the backyard.

It's mornings filled with pajama dance parties.

And its board games before bedtime.

But life is also about the bad times.

It's bath time battles.

It's playground meltdowns.

It's the exhaustion of reminding your kids to "keep their hands to themselves" even though they never listen.

When I look back over the last few years at the photos I've taken, the ones I really connect to, they all have one thing in common. Sure, they are boring and mundane and stressful and exhausting, but they are also honest... and genuine... and simple... and heartfelt.

They are real life... documented.
